Karen Lauderdale joined the United Way of Washington County, TN in May 2016 and serves as Community Impact Coordinator. In this role, she is responsible for community outreach, special event planning, grant writing and campaign support. Her favorite aspect of this position is knowing that every day she will come in contact with people who are doing kind and wonderful things to help others in the community.
Karen was born and raised in Wisconsin, holds a BA in Organization Communications from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and has over 25 years of volunteer and paid non-profit experience, including serving as a Regional Coordinator for Sidelines National Support Network. She has served on advisory boards for TOKOS Medical, Healthdyne Medical and the Wisconsin Governor’s Parent Advisory Council. As a former PTA volunteer and three-time President, Karen is the recipient of Lifetime Achievement Awards from both the Tennessee and Wisconsin State PTAs.
Karen enjoys working with area organizations and represents United Way of Washington County, TN with Live Well Washington County, where she is a member of the Physical Activity Committee. Active in the arts, she is a past board member for Create Appalachia, and currently serves as Board Secretary for Artlandia, Inc. In her free time she enjoys reading, cooking, crafting and spending time with her husband, Jim and their two grown children.
